Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority microbiologist Dr. Hallie Leland was on the verge of a break though of a super-antibiotic rivaling penicillin when she was accused of selling government secrets. To avoid prison, she resigned.

Currently, Hallie works at the Deep Enough Dive Shop in Northern Florida only because her best friend Mary Stilwell hired her. Thomas Brewster arrives asking for a guide to take him to the Boneyeard. She takes him down and saves his life. HSD Agents Fortier and Whittle arrive to chat with Dr. Leland, who stuns them with her lack of respect. They say Dr. Don Barnard of CDC, who supported her when BARDA sold her out, sent them to her. She travels to DC immediately where she meets with Don, Delta lab supervisor Dr. Lewis Casey and CIA agent David Lathrop. Wounded soldiers were infected with a new form of Acinetobacter contagious bacterial infection that has come from Afghanistan to the States. Time is running out however, as they need to complete her original work but what they need is in a deep Mexican cave where two people died on the last expedition there and lawlessness is the law in the general area.

This is an exciting bioterror medical thriller that grips the reader from the moment the disgraced heroine is brought back at the eleventh hour to save the day until the final bloody twist. Although the supervillain and to a lesser degree his conspirators and the supporting good guys are stereotyped, fans will enjoy the dive into the weird world of subterranean caves escorted by Hallie.
